Microsurgical Denervation of the Spermatic Cord

Chronic testicular pain, also known as chronic orchialgia, is a debilitating condition that affects many men.  Possible causes include the following conditions:

  • Tumor
  • Infection
  • Torsion
  • Varicocele
  • Spermatocele
  • Hernia
  • Post-vasectomy pain

Dr. Celigoj is an expert in identifying and treating the above conditions.  In some men, there is no identifiable cause of their testicular pain.  Rest, physical therapy, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory medications may provide relief; however, some men do not respond to conservative treatments options.  Dr. Celigoj offers microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord in select patients.

An operating microscope is used to identify the tissue around the spermatic cord that carries nerves signals from the epididymis and testicle.  By disrupting these nerves signals, long-term pain relief can be achieved.  This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour to complete.  Patients are able to go home the same day.  In properly selected patients, resolution of pain has been achieved in up to 70% of men.

Dr. Celigoj has undergone specialized training in microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord.  Please contact our office today in order to make an appointment and see if you are a candidate for microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord.
